A thick, shiny, yellowish or reddish fluid with a taste more salty than that of ordinary milk. It has a sp. gr. of 1.046 to 1.080. The chemical composition is similar to that of milk. The amount of solid matter is greater and the quantity of globulin is so large that colostrum will coagulate on heating.
