[Latin] The clear, faintly alkaline, watery liquid secreted by the lachrymal gland and serving to moisten the conjunctiva and keep it cleansed from dust and other impurities. The t. are carried over the surface of the eye by the movements of the lids, and are discharged through the puncta into the lachrymal sac (Tear-sac), and thence through the lachrymal duct (Tear duct) into the nose.
