The leaves and flowers have an aromatic smell, and a rough, bitterish, somewhat pungent taste. They have been used in dyspepsia, flatulence, hemorrhage, &c. An extract of the plant, made with proof spirit, has been called Achillei'num, and is used by the Italians in intermittent fever.
